Puddicombe Estate Pinot Starburst Rose

Pinot Noir is a diva on the grape runway. The fruit is intolerant of any extreme weather, is considered sensitive and temperamental, but when at its best, it can make for a very sexy glass of wine.

The hand harvested grapes were gently pressed with little duration of skin contact so as not to extract too much colour or tannin. A 17-day fermentation with cultured yeast in stainless steel tanks, with no malolactic conversion produced a wine with bright fruit and racy acidity. Light bentonite fining, cold stabilization preceded spring bottling.

Pinot Starburst delivers bright acidity and soft, subtle aromas of crab apple, watermelon, raspberries, strawberries, and a hint of vanilla. This grape has produced earthy-but-elegant wine that is cool, crisp, and off-dry, subtle tannins are present along with a refreshing acidity to balance the finish of the wine.
